Medical Technology

What is medical technology?
Medical technology is a device or intervention to extend the life of patients, relieve pain and to reduce risk of disease.

- Medical technology helps human to continue life on earth. It can allow quicker diagnosis which allows early treatment.

History

Medical technology started in the nineteenth century. Most medical tools fit easily into the doctor's little black bag, and diagnoses were based more on instinct than on science.

Wilhelm C. Roentgen was the first man who discovered an electromagnetic radiation that could pass through the body and leave an image of its bones or organs on a photographic plate in 1895. Roentgen is a German Physicist.

Since then, many physicians or scientist invented a radiology to diagnose problems. And so, now images may be produced by sound waves (sonograms), radio waves in a strong magnetic field called magnetic resonance or MR scans, or minute amounts of radioactive material injected into the patient called nuclear medicine, known to some of its detractors by the anagraphic unclear medicine.

The importance of various technology to our understanding of internal body systems

Medical technology has an important role in our lives because without it we would not find a reason why for instance if a person dies. Also, we would not have an information about what is going on with our internal body.

A recent report by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (2007) looked at trends in hospital use. it is suggested that "advance in medical technology is leading to more efficient ways of treating inpatients". The report found that more operations are being performed as outpatient day surgeries across Canada. the total number of patients increased and the total number of number of age-standardized rate decreased.
By all means, Medical technologies are very useful it can improve access to care, it can improve effectiveness of care, decrease morbidity and mortality, speed up recovery and increase patient comfort. these benefits are not just theoretical, but have been quantified in published studies.
